Wood, Leslie

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Leslie Wood, who passed away June 3rd 2019 at the Langley Hospice. Born in Belleville Ontario in 1948 to parents Joanne and Stuart Wood, Leslie moved to BC in the 1970's where she found a fulfilling career as a biology lab technician at the University of the Fraser Valley. She was a caring mother, loving grandmother, dedicated community member, passionate gardener, and an avid traveler. She was also a founding member of the Windsong Cohousing community in Langley, where she lived for the past 22 years.

Leslie died peacefully after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma earlier in the spring. Right until the end of her life, she continued to make time for the things she enjoyed most - good meals, time with her family, board games, reading, sitting in her garden in the sun, and doting on her beloved dog Louis. She leaves behind her children Liz and Rob, along with two step daughters, a daughter and son in law, eight loving grandchildren and her five younger siblings. Leslie will be remembered for her independent spirit, irreverent sense of humour, and the way she lived her life entirely on her own terms. Reflecting back on her life's purpose, she said that it was to make the world more beautiful one garden at a time.

Leslie will be laid to rest with a private interment at Heritage Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to her celebration of life on June 16, 3pm at Windsong, 20543 96 Ave in Langley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Campbell Valley Nature House, where Leslie volunteered for several years.

Condolences to Leslie's entire family. Having known Leslie for over 45 years I definitely agree she did things on her own terms and in her own unique way. So many good and funny memories. She will be missed.

I will miss Leslie's smile! She was a wonderful, thoughtful and peaceful presence, a kind and generous neighbour and made all our lives at Windsong sunnier just by being there. Rest in Peace, Leslie!

I will miss my phone calls and visits with Leslie. She was always the steady presence amongst us - her 5 siblings. She leaves a empty space that no one can fill - ‘and then there was 5 ‘ ❤️
