Parent, Gilles Robert Joseph

12/18/2023

Gilles Parent
In Loving memory of Gilles Robert Joseph Parent, a devoted husband, and accomplished builder/manager, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2023, at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He was born in Altona, Manitoba, to Michel and Dorothee Parent.

Gilles was the beloved husband of Sharon Mary Parent (nee Holovaci), and together they shared a life filled with love and companionship. He is survived by his wife and Daniel and leaves a legacy of love and dedication to his family.

Gilles dedicated 45 years to the field of construction and restoration, leaving an indelible mark through his skills as a builder and manager. His commitment to his work enriched the communities he served.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during an evening prayer service held on Friday December 22 at 7:00pm. The following morning the Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am. Both will  take place at Holy Nativity Orthodox Church, 4828 216a Street, Langley.  Gilles will then be laid to rest at Heritage Gardens Cemetery, 19082 16 Avenue, Surrey.

Father Michael Gillis will officiate the services.

*** Please note, following the funeral the family will proceed directly to the cemetery for the burial, but they specifically request that all guests partake in the reception immediately following the funeral in the adjacent Murrayville Hall. You are requested to stay as long as you are able to enjoy each others company and share in the memory of Gilles upon their return from the cemetery.

Gilles will be remembered for his dedication to family, his craftsmanship, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace.

Uncle Gil you will be missed by all of us that you have left behind. I always enjoyed debating anything concerning the Canucks with you.
Going to the Ukrainian New Years at your place in Coquitlam was always a good time.
May you Rest In Peace

Gilles, we were often sitting/standing close by together at Church and I always appreciated seeing you and sharing in the greeting during Liturgy. I am so sorry I was not able to thank you again in these last few months for your legacy as a long-time and dedicated member of our Church. Your vision and heart will live on. The new roof is going on soon and I know you'd welcome that improvement! With love, your sister and brother in Christ, Aki and Laura Lintunen

Gilles, I had the pleasure of knowing you through our Business Partnership and also as a great friendship developed with you and your dear wife Sharon. Sharon and I also had worked together at Rogers Cable. Even though my wife also Sharon and I have moved away into the interior of BC in the fall of 2018, we often thought of both of you and considered you both as good friends and family. We will miss you greatly Gilles. RIP our friend and our sincerest condolences.

Sharon and Daniel

We are truly sorry to hear of GIlles passing and we want to extend our heart-felt condolences to you both.

Gilles was a good neighbour. He aways had a smile on his face and we enjoyed our hallway conversations with him. May he rest in peace.

Our brother Gilles learned early on to grin and bare it, having been brought up with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. I knew deep down that he was very saddened by the loss of our sister Rose on his birthday during the pandemic and just recently ( Nov.11/ ) the loss of our sister Colette. I feel blessed that I was able to see him on Friday morning and we shared a few laughs. My deepest sympathy to Sharon and Daniel and to my remaining siblings. Rest in peace big brother and we will miss you.
