Melnyk, Lavonne

8/16/2019

July 17, 1938 – August 10, 2019
It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Lavonne May Melnyk (nee Braun), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Lavonne passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord at the age of 81. Throughout her life and to the end, she was surrounded with love by family and friends. She is survived by her husband Ronald John Melnyk, daughter Lori Ann, sons Ronnie and Rodney (Shawna), and grandchildren Tyler (Natalie), Joel and Danika. Lavonne was born in Winkler, Manitoba and lived in Lowe Farm, Manitoba for the first ten years of her life. She lived in Winnipeg in her teen years. She married Ronald in 1957 and they lived in Winnipeg until 1967 when they moved to Delta, British Columbia. In BC, Lavonne worked for Hallmark Cards for 21 years. She really enjoyed her job organizing the in-store card displays, and especially loved meeting and helping the customers. Music was a huge part of Lavonne’s life, playing the violin as a child, and later in life playing the violin, accordion and organ.  Her love and passion for music led her to encourage all her children and grandchildren to play musical instruments. Always at the centre of Lavonne’s life was her strong Christian faith and belief in Jesus. She never hesitated to share her faith with others. Lavonne’s favorite Bible verse was John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. There will be a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24. The location will be: Trinity Lutheran Church, 11040 River Road, North Delta. Light snacks and beverages will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.

Lavonne will be laid to rest with a private family internment at Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Surrey.
