It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill, loving husband, father and grandfather, who passed away peacefully at Peach Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC surrounded by his loved ones.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Gladys of 54 years; daughters Jocelyn (Chad) and Alicia; granddaughters Abigail and Sophia as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ella, his sister Diane and close friends George McLaughlin and Dennis Allison.
Bill was born and primarily raised in Winnipeg. As a young man he began working as a sales rep for Green Cross where he worked for over 35 years. He married Gladys Plett in 1970. His career with Green Cross took the family on several moves. Shortly after getting married Bill and Gladys moved to Edmonton before returning to Winnipeg in 1972 where Jocelyn was born in 1977. In 1979 they moved to Saskatoon where Alicia was born in 1979. In 1985 they moved to the Greater Vancouver area initially to Delta before moving to Surrey in 1993. Bill worked briefly for AZ Trading and McKenzie Seeds before retiring. Bill and Gladys moved to Chelsea Gardens in Surrey in 2017 where Bill was active in the strata council and was the strata president for two years. After they had both retired Bill and Gladys enjoyed travelling together. His last trip was an Alaskan cruise with his wife, daughters and granddaughters in the summer of 2023. In June 2024 Bill moved to the Peace Portal Seniors Village.
Bill will be remembered for his commitment to staying informed about current events, often reading several newspapers daily. He was also passionate about politics, having run for office in the 1974 federal election and acting as campaign manager for several federal candidates. Additionally, he was a devoted Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan.
Special thanks to the staff at the Peace Portal Seniors Village. As per Bill’s wishes cremation has taken place.

We were saddened to learn today of Bill’s death. He was a kind and thoughtful man with a special family. He always had time for a chat ( mainly about the state of the country’s politics) if you bumped into him at the grocery store. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family - especially his girls - Alicia, Jocelyn and of course wife Gladys. Thanks Bill for being a great neighbour as we watched our kids grow up together.
