Debbie Mae Glenda Gionet (1957–2025)
Debbie Mae Spratt was born on July 6, 1957, in New Westminster, BC. On August 31, 2025, in Abbotsford, BC, with her family by her side, she peacefully ended her year-long and courageous battle with colon cancer and began her journey to heaven. Debbie’s life was defined by love and service—to her family, friends, and even strangers. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 47 years, Bill; her son Bradley; and her “Ukrainian sons,” Volodymyr and Max. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings: Cheryl (Sam) Frederick, Wendy (Curt) Sheppard, and Wayne (Beth) Spratt; her sisters-in-law Darlene (Mike) Lewis and Marjorie (Tom) Moore; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Debbie is also survived by her uncle Glenn (Norine) Spratt and aunt Donna Mae Joy on the Spratt side, and uncles Harvey (Mary), Bob (Fran) and Aunt Judy (Carl) Lentz on the Hindman side. The family is especially grateful for the love and support of Debbie’s best friend of nearly 60 years, Terri (Alan) Fisher. Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Herb (2015) and Doreen (2022). We find comfort in believing she is reunited with them. A Celebration of Life will be held at Yarrow Alliance Church on September 20, 2025 at 11 am, under the caring guidance of Jim and Sharon Gaetz. Refreshments to follow the service. Bright colour clothing was requested by Debbie. Debbie would want to remind us all: Life can sure be hard sometimes, but it won’t rain always. Our family is grateful for the care and compassion shown to Debbie, Bill and Bradley these past 12 months. When we were no longer strong, you carried us. Donations in Debbie’s Honour may be made to the Chilliwack or Abbotsford Hospice Societies, as their services touched our hearts immensely.

Mama Debbie was, simply put, a formidable woman. A force. A loving hug of God's grace in human form. A lady I looked up to ever since Bradley and I became friends in grade 2 all those years ago. I will miss her greatly always.

Big Thank to Canadian Sweet mother... I missed her presence in my life. It is a true honour to have been considered one of her “Ukrainian sons.” Debbie welcomed me with kindness, love, and generosity from the very beginning, and I will always carry her warmth in my heart. Her strength, faith, and compassion touched my life in ways I will never forget.
